Dear Parents/Carers,

I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome you back for the new school year and to give you some information for the year ahead:

Reading diaries – Your children have now been issued with a reading diary which they need to bring into school every day, if they have remembered it every day they will get one raffle ticket.

Your children will bring home two books each week. I would like them to read and share stories with you at home at least three times a week, more if possible. This does not always have to be the books they bring home from school, feel free to read and share any books and stories you have available at home. Their diaries will get checked on a Friday and the children that have read three times that week will get one raffle ticket.

Your children’s books will get changed once a week and they have each been given a specific reading day. Their day is written on the front of their reading diaries. Please could you check their diary daily and sign it each week.

Spellings – Your child will get a list of spellings to learn each week. These will be tested and new ones given on their reading day. Their spellings will be written in their homework diaries.

PE – Class 2 will have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Their PE kit will need to be in school on these days. Please feel free to bring their PE kit in on a Monday and leave it all week.

Henry – Henry is our class bear and he will come home with a chosen child on a Friday. There is information in Henry’s diary explaining what to do with him and when to return him to school.

Golden Shop - The Golden Shop will be open every Friday during Golden Time. When the children have collected five raffle tickets they will be able to visit the shop and exchange these for a prize.

This half term our topic are 'Chocolate' and 'All About Me!' and we are lucky enough to have Derby University student, Miss Neal, working in our class until the middle of November.

I hope that this is helpful, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you,

Miss Rosental
