Friends of Brailsford School

We would like to welcome you and your child to Brailsford School, and to introduce ourselves.

We are a friendly and informal group of parents and teachers who work very hard to raise funds to provide those all important ‘extras’ that enhance the children’s learning and school life at Brailsford.

We are always in need of help, to enable us to run all the events. Whether you can participate as a committee member, or would prefer to help in a smaller or occasional way, we are always grateful. As we are registered with the Charities Commission (Number 1095497) we do have to hold an AGM each year. This is one of our few meetings each year and is held at the beginning of the school academic year. As well as electing officers, we decide on what events to run through the upcoming year and what to spend our funds on. We welcome any new ideas for future fundraising events, so even if you don’t wish to be on the committee please speak to someone who is or a member of the school staff.

We don’t run many events each year, but we do like to make the most of each one and encourage families to join in as much as possible. Over the past year our main fund-raisers have been a family obstacle course, a family chocolate bingo event, a summer school fair, the annual and much-loved Secret Santa event, the sale of pupil designed t-towels and a Christmas hamper raffle.

All the money we raise goes towards “extras” which all the children in school benefit from. This year we have purchased a brand new outdoor classroom to enhance the new school, as well as providing all the children buses and ice-creams for the theatre trips and a Christmas disco.

FOBS have our own notice board, which is currently located on the fence near the playground entrance. Please do look to see what is currently going on, as well as a list of the committee members – should you need to speak to one of us. We also publish any up-coming events in the School Newsletter.

Lastly, FOBS are always looking for additional ways to raise money – even if it is only used once. Does your employer, or do you know anyone who works for an employer, which runs a Charity Fundraising Match Scheme? These are great sources of revenue, as they match whatever we have raised for a particular event. In the past we have received grants and sponsorships from NatWest, Barclays, Toyota and Rolls Royce. Please contact us if you can help. Thanks.

Also FOBS is registered with the ‘Easy Fundraising’ site. Anyone can log on and register at www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/brailsfordsch and then shop through it in all the leading online shops. We then get commission from anything you spend. It doesn’t take long to set up, but it easily earns us much needed money.

Many thanks for your time and we hope you have many years enjoying what FOBS has to offer.
