School Update - 7th April

Dear Parents,

As we are now in the third week of closure and also the first week of what would have been the Easter Holidays, I wanted to update you on the situation with regard to how we are supporting the Government's plans to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and help protect the NHS.
We continue to remain closed to all pupils except those of key workers and vulnerable pupils who cannot be cared-for at home. We are providing childcare at Brailsford school, for pupils from both our schools and also for other schools and preschools, who are unable to open for their pupils who meet the criteria. We are staffed on a rota basis with a minimum number of adults to maintain safety and safeguarding of pupils - this helps us to reduce the risk to our staff and their families. Staff are observing strict social distancing, hand washing and precautionary measures when managing the children to avoid the potential, unwitting spread of the virus. Each day, the areas used by the children and staff are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised - further helping to minimise risk. We receive daily guidance from the DfE and DCC, and ensure that we adhere to recommendations.
I want to thank you for helping us to manage the situation as best we can - I know that you will be facing difficulties and challenges, including for many of you, caring for your children whilst working from home yourselves. I hope that the resources, activities and links that we have made available for you on Google Classroom are helpful - please remember there is no expectation that pupils complete a certain amount or number of activities - it is for you to decide how little or how much you do with your children - as always, daily reading and practising times tables is the most beneficial thing you can do to help your child - so if this is all you are able/wish to do - that's just fine. Please do get in touch with the teachers via Class Dojo - if you need support with anything - and thank you for respecting the time they may be spending with their families, if they do not respond straight away.
We are also here for you at Brailsford each weekday between 9am and 3:30pm, if you need any help or support with anything - please call or email - we will do whatever we can to help.
I also want to let you know just how amazing our team of staff are - without exception, they have volunteered to help in any way they can - for some this means staying at home to protect themselves or other vulnerable people they live with - for others it means working in very different roles, both at home and in school, to enable us to provide the support for our our key workers and the vital jobs they do.
Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to all our amazing pupils, whether at home or in school, I know that this is a very different and possibly difficult time for many of you. I know that you will be helping your parents and doing what you can to help us all get back to normal as quickly as possible. I am really missing seeing, chatting and watching you learn each day - if we can all do what we have been asked to do, hopefully we will be back to school soon.
Stay safe and well,
Warmest regards,

Mrs Foulds
